US oxygen cylinders, equipment and test kits arrive in India

The United States’ first emergency aid to India arrived today as the country grapples with a devastating spike in Covid-19 cases that has overwhelmed hospitals and crematoriums.

Deliveries arrived as India recorded an additional 385,000 new cases – a new world record – and nearly 3,500 deaths in the past 24 hours. This is based on official data, which many experts suggest will not reach the real figure.
